Jun 01, 1920· To the Editor:— I was somewhat surprised to see, in a discussion on tinea cruris in the February issue of the Archives, page 225, the opinion stated that Whitfield's ointment was in action a salicylic acid ointment and that the benzoic acid was inactive.The observers said the salicylic acid alone was effective, and apparently based their opinions on its use without the addition of benzoic acid.
